I Overslept, Here’s A Link Dump

My goal for today was to wake up relatively early (10-ish), hit up my local coffeeshop, and work on some writing. I’ve got four long pieces that I’m trying to finish up for the blog – the extra hour or two gained by waking up early would have ensure that I’d get at least three of them posted by the end of the week.

But yeah, it didn’t happend. When I woke up today, it was almost 2pm. I went out last night, but only briefly (two beers), so I couldn’t really blame that. Since I’m currently on antibiotics due to the whole dog bite fiasco, I’ll just go ahead and blame it on the pills.

Anyway, since I still wanted to put something up for the day, here is a brief exercise in the laziest of lazy blogging: the link dump.

- Both Fluxblog and FensePost have write-ups on The Da Vinci’s. Both mention that the three members of the band are wee ones – they’re still in high school. This, of course, makes my 32-year old self feel sick.

Good songs, though – especially the one posted on Fluxblog. It’s eight minutes long – roughly the same amount of time as one segment of Animaniacs, which is what I was watching when I was in high school instead of learning instruments and recording albums.

- Baeble Music has a video interview with Zaza which can be watched here. This, of course, gives me the opportunity to link to the post I wrote about them several months ago (read it here). It also gives me the opportunity to repost these two Blingees that I made up of Jenny, the bass player:

Oh Jenny. At one point in the interview, she says the phrase, “put the sex back into it”. Yes – please do.

Here’s the song of theirs that was part of my original post:

Zaza – Always On

- I don’t know much about YACHT (and I was getting ready to launch into a tirade against bands who insist on using ALL CAPS for their names until I remembered that I’m in a band that insists on using ALL CAPS in it’s name) and I haven’t much liked what I’ve heard from their new album, but I’ve now noticed that it’s a much better experience without the vocals.  This knowledge was gleaned courtesy of this instrumental version of See Mystery Lights that can be downloaded at the Free Music Archive. I think I read about this first through MBV, so kudos to them.

That’s all for today. Check back tomorrow for more sexytime hijinks. We’ll be putting the sex back into it (sideways). Brace yourself.
