Compare And Contrast: New Ted Leo vs Old Sonic Youth

Yesterday, the folks at Stereogum reported on the progress of the new Ted Leo album.  They included the following mp3, a demo version of one of the songs set to appear on the new album:

Ted Leo – Last Days (Ruff Mix)

The first two lines in the verses (it takes about 48 seconds for the first verse to begin), along with guitar melody at the 1:44 mark, sound exactly like this:

Sonic Youth – Winner’s Blues

Even the end rhymes in the first verse are similar (Ted Leo – today/way; Sonic Youth – way/today).

Tsk tsk, Ted.
