Spontaneous Combustion Forecasted At Exit/In

Ghosts on the road. Although not The Psychedelic Furs, The Black Angels are psychedelic.

The Psychedelic Furs and Happy Mondays recently played the Las Vegas House of Blues. As mentioned before, I’m a big fan of eighties and early nineties British pop. I had every intention of attending the show if the tickets weren’t outrageously over-priced (like nearly every concert is in Las Vegas). Also, I regret having missed The Furs’ Richard Butler when he came through town a few years ago on his solo tour… the reviews were great.

But I blew it… again.

Granted, in the days leading up to the show I still had my head in the clouds from seeing Cheap Trick perform Sgt. Pepper Live. I was also constantly hung-over after drinking for days and days while Darrin from Page 300 visited. Despite my hangovers it wasn’t until yesterday that I actually felt sick. You see, I’m on the House of Blues’ Two-For-Tuesday mailing list but failed to read the email that had two-for-one Psychedelic Furs/Happy Monday tickets available. I could have bought two tickets to the show for a mere $10.50 each. Folks, I would have made it a point to find a date at that price. Hell, even if I didn’t, $21.00 is still a great price for one person at the HOB.

I’m still kicking myself… but I’m also trying to learn from my mistakes.

I’ll be in Music City for the quickly approaching Next Big Nashville music extravaganza. It’s an expo with tons of bands, tons of venues and tons of fun. Although there’s a lot of bands playing I’m not familiar with, the two that I care about just happen to be playing the same night and in the same place. Austin’s The Black Angels and local Nashville starlet Cortney Tidwell will both be performing at the Exit/In on Friday, October 9th.

The Black Angels – You In Color

Cortney Tidwell – So We Sing

Tickets to see these two awesome acts (plus Disappears and Bear In Heaven) are just $15.00. The fact the Exit/In is across the street from The Gold Rush (my old stomping ground) makes the evening all the more sweeter.

Fifteen bucks. That’s the same price as two beers at HOB in Las Vegas.

I’m buying my ticket…NOW.
