It’s Friday!

Let’s recap the week:
- As I write this, my car is still in the shop. Based on my last conversation with the mechanic, I’m looking at a 700 dollar repair job. This obviously does not delight me, but it’s actually considerably less than I expected. If you combine my transmission issues with that fact that I also need 4 new tires, it’s a goddamn miracle that I drove it to Florida last week and got back safely.
- Speaking of Florida, my old Floridian stomping grounds popped up twice this week. First, in this post about the best band Tampa has ever produced. Then we crossed the bay to the city where Jack Kerouac’s liver finally said “no more”.
- Home might have been the best band that Tampa has ever produced, but they are far from being the best band in the history of music. Unless they write a song inspired by me (please do this!) – then all bets are off.
- Tyge did his magical holiday thing, then posted a couple of Random Songs that are supposedly interconnected in some way, though the final answer has yet to be revealed. How much longer will we be held in suspense? Only Tyge knows.
- Meanwhile, my Random Song selections remained truly random, with selections from Wolf Parade, Magik Markers, Lambchop, and Great Lake Swimmers.
- The Spinto Band cover ELO, joining an ever-expanding list of bands that have done the same. And even though I ended up listening to seven different versions of “Mr Blue Sky” while writing that post, I somehow still can’t get enough of that damn song.
- Many, many of you have taken a liking to the various Magnetic Fields covers I’ve been posting on Sundays, which makes me very happy. Much thanks to those who have emailed me with even more Magnetic Fields covers; I now have enough to keep this going for several more weeks. So check back on Sunday for part three.
That’s all for now. We love you lots – have a wonderful weekend.
