It’s Friday!
I’m with you, kids – let’s celebrate the end of another week. Before we leave, though, let’s do a quick recap:
- We had more fun with Magnetic Fields covers. There’s a whole slew of more fun coming this Sunday, when Part Five drops.
- I dreamt of crack. which was whack, but it helped to remind me of The Moldy Peaches, which was whacker. It also reminded me to subtly plug my nascent dream blog, which was the whackest of all.
- We saw Random Songs from LCD Soundsystem, The Long Winters, New Buffalo, Deerhunter, and Caribou. The LCD Soundsystem track proved to be quite popular this week, bringing oodles of new eyeballs onto our ever-growing part of the web. And the Deerhunter track spurred some fucker to use the comments as a way of discreetly plugging some piece-of-shit band I couldn’t give two shits about. Welcome to our spam folder, Joe!
- Speaking of pieces of shits, some goddamn fucker beat up one of my favorite songwriters. If you happen to live in Nottingham and know who did this, SHOW NO MERCY!!! BEAT AND BEAT AGAIN!!!! DON’T STOP UNTIL YOUR HANDS ARE COVERED IN THE SWEET, SWEET GOO THAT USED TO BE HIS FACE!!! Street justice – The Opening Acts approves. Get better, Darren.
- I forgot to write about the band that reminded me of Pram. Oh well – maybe next week. In the meantime, I’ll listen to Pram a little more.
- The fella from Alpha Leonis sent me the rest of his album after I wrote about one of his great songs. I’m happy to say that the rest of the album is as good as that song. I love it when that happens.
- We got our funk on with not one, but two posts about electronica, as written by two guys who rarely listen to electronica. I might do it more often, though, just to use the word ‘electronicalicious’ a couple more times.
- I told Tyge a couple months ago that if he couldn’t find a holiday to use for his series to just make one up because, with so many silly holidays out there, no one would tell the difference. After reading his post on National Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day, I think he finally took my advice.
- Finally, there was Yo Gabba Gabba. My brain is still a little fried from listening to that album so many times in such a short span.
