Monday Afternoon Video Fun
Here’s a video that goes after my travel-loving heart. It’s by Orba Squara and features a time-lapse of thousands of photographs from a 10-day, cross-country road trip. Check out their very nifty website for the story behind the trip.
Here’s the mp3 for the song. If you listen to it, and find yourself thinking, “is that Billy Squier on guitar?”, then congratulate your freakish, 80’s-centric hearing, for the answer is yes.
Orba Squara – The Trouble With Flying
Speaking of great guitar players, here is Richard Hawley with “Open Up Your Door”, the second video from the amazing Truelove’s Gutter. If you listen to it, and find yourself thinking, “is the phrase ‘open up your door’ really just a euphemism for ‘open up your legs’?”, then congratulations, you’re a pervert. With that said, I think the answer’s yes. Please don’t judge me.
Now, if you watched the video and – instead of filthy thoughts – had thoughts about ice cream and Ukranian ballerinas (ok, I guess these thoughts can be filthy, too), then it’s probably because you first heard the song after watching this commercial for Häagen Dazs:
Continuing with the Hawley theme, here is Amy Millan doing a live cover of his song, “Run For Me”. She also covers this on her latest album, Masters Of The Burial. If you listen to it, and find yourself thinking, “this is nowhere near as good as the original”, then congratulate your awesome good judgement, because you are totally right.
For a much better re-interpretation of the original, listen to the man himself do it by checking out the version at the end of this post at The Daily Growl.
That’s all for today. Hope you all had a good weekend. Enjoy what’s left of your Monday.
