Monday Morning-Ish Video Fun Featuring Ted Leo, Capybara, The Magnetic Fields, And Some Germans
Here’s Ted Leo performing a new song acoustically a couple weeks back when CMJ was going on. Does he blatantly rip-off another band like the last time he let us hear a new song? I can’t really tell, as I’m writing this from a coffeeshop and forgot to bring my headphones, so I’m listening to it very quietly. I detect a hint of Counting Crows, but that could just be the radio that’s playing at the coffeeshop. Listen for yourself:
Speaking of being quiet, you know what’s not quiet at all? Ted Leo’s website. Fucking hell, I went there just now so I could provide you with a link and it blasted some super-loud Ted Leo action through my speakers and onto the unsuspecting mass of college kids behind me on their Macs. Sorry kids, you just got Leo-ed.
You know what also stinks? This coffeeshop – from which I’ve written about 25% of this blog (and has played a supporting role in at least one of my postings) – has changed ownership recently. Beginning today, they raised the price of their large coffee by 4 cents. No big deal, right? Right – except the large coffee IS NOW FOUR OUNCES SMALLER!!! YOU FUCKING MONSTERS!!! It’s time to get Consumerist on your ass! Christ, if only there was a way that coffee could be made at home in a convenient and inexpensive manner. *Sigh*, if only.

I noticed this clip from Capybara a week-or-so ago while scanning the multitude of music blogs on my RSS feed. I don’t remember which blog had it posted (sorry), mainly because I didn’t bother to watch the clip (I think the giant Shaquille O’Neal heads turned me off). But then their record label ended up emailing me the clip, along with some swell tunes, so I finally went ahead and pressed play. I recommend you do the same.
I might have more on these guys later, as I’ve really enjoyed everything I’ve heard from them.

Our resident German expert, Stuart, put the link to this video in the comments of my post about the penis museum. He felt that the song included with that post sounded like this band. He also used the word schlagerisch, which an earlier commenter had used as well. I have no idea what that means, and I have no idea what’s going on this video – I just wanted to write about penises.
