The Opening Acts’ Half-Assed, Once-A-Year Electronica Report (Part Deux)
Since Carl just posted his yearly electronica report, I figured I best chime-in with my techno-suggestion for the year decade-so-far, as my exposure to this genre of music is also rather limited. Case in point: this album was released in 2002.
I first heard Alpinestars‘ “Carbon Kid” back when Comedy Central aired episodes of the awesome prank show, Trigger Happy TV. The song was used during a skit where people in gorilla costumes raid a grocery store, stealing all the bananas.
The song features guest-vocalist Brian Molko of Placebo.

Also on the White Noise album is this uplifting ditty, although the opening rifts arguably rip-off U2’s “Until the End of the World.”
Here’s the (shorter, radio/TV edit) video for “Carbon Kid.” It’s like a modern version of Rock’em Sock’em Robots.
Coming up next year: The synth-sounds of Dirty Vegas.
