The Opening Acts’ Half-Assed, Once-A-Year Electronica Report

We don’t normally delve into the world of electronica around here (except for the occasional random song), but I’m really digging the stuff this guy is doing. His name is Max Justus and he’s . . . he’s . . .

See, this is why we don’t cover electronica – I don’t know how to desribe this shit (note to all the bands and labels that send me remixes:  I hope you’re paying attention).  Funky?  Groovy?  Electronicalicous?  I don’t even know if I’m supposed to call this electronica.  Can I just call it dance music?  Is it some weird sub-genre I’m not aware of like grime-dub or dub-grime 0r enormo-funk or electro-anti-trance-acid-bass?  Where are my dentures?  What time does Cronkite come on?

My ears dig it.  My mind agrees.  We’ll just go with ‘good’.  Or ‘electronicalicious’ – that sounds more apt.

Both of these tracks are from his latest album, No Mercy. Give ‘em a listen, then buy the album here.

Max Justus – Sweat
Max Justus – Bending Space and Time

More tracks can be heard at his Myspace page. You can also find more info over at The Record Machine. While you’re there, be sure to check out the songs on the right side bar, as pretty much all of them are great.

And since I have no idea when I’ll write about electronicalicious things again, I’d just like to point out that this blog is awesome. Go there, press play, and thank me later.

This concludes the The Opening Acts’ Half-Assed Once-A-Year Electronica Report.  See you next year!
