Your Weekend Holiday – Repeal Day
Today, December 5, 2009, is Repeal Day. On this day in 1933, the 21st Amendment was ratified and repealed the 18th Amendment, thus again allowing alcohol to be legally produced, sold, served and drank in the United States. During the 14 years Prohibition was in effect, the Irish immigration to America saw a drastic decline. To this day, one can find descendants of these immigrants still in Canada, speaking Gaelic with a French accent.
