Monday Morning Video Fun: The Mercifully Christmas-Free Edition

This does not go on long enough:

My excitement towards the huge amount of great bands releasing music in the early part of 2010 has been dulled considerably after giving an advance listen (draw your own conclusion) to several of these releases. With the clip above, along with the one track that’s already been released, I’m remaining hopeful that Tindersticks will make me excited about 2010 again.

Tindersticks – Black Smoke

Computer Perfection got me excited a-plenty during 2009, especially after they (finally) released their debut album, We Wish You Well On Your Way To Hell.  Here’s the second video taken from the album, a tune called “Sans Soleil”. My rudimentary French skills lead me to believe that that means “without sun”. Google’s much-more advanced French skills lead them to believe that I’m right. Yay for me.

Computer Perfection – Able Archer

If The Long Winters ever get around to releasing their follow-up to 2006’s mighty Putting The Days To Bed, then my excitement towards 2010 might become uncontainable (which might not be good for society, but whatever).  Over the summer, frontman John Roderick posted a series of videos detailing his struggles coming up with lyrics for the new album.  The video below – part 4 of 8 – perfectly encapsulates the entire series.  It is at-once very funny (in this episode, he breaks down the track sequencing of an Air Supply record) and adorably pathetic (and then he falls off the hammock).  His missing front tooth only adds to the pathos.  By the end of the final part, you just wanna hug the guy.

The Long Winters – Honest

Two things from the overflowing inbox before we depart.  The first is this Luxury Wafers session from the fleetishly foxy J Tillman. Here’s one clip from the session – the rest can be watched and downloaded here:

And the second is this delightful animated clip from French band Niwouinwouin.  My rudimentary French skills are no help when it comes to deciphering what their name means.  When the music’s good, it doesn’t really matter.  This is the A-side to a limited edition 7-inch than can be purchased through Ego Twister Records.  The B-side’s just as fun as this track, so go get yourself a copy.

That’s all for now.  Heavy shit is coming up shortly, if I can finish writing it.  Enjoy your Monday.
